In homage to their last ten years, a decade akin in sound to a hard driving rain – a relentless storm of everything that’s right about rock-n-roll, The Kills are set to release a collection of never-before-seen photography. The book, entitled Dream and Drive, will be obtainable as of September 4th and is available for pre-order here. Through the lens of photographer, Kenneth Cappello, a dear friend of the band, we are privy to the grit, the calamity, the quiet and the humor of the duo both on and off-stage.
Alison Mosshart likens the photos to “Silent visions of things turned up past their load. The tremble of the nightclub, the dive of backstage temporaries, electricity flung like paint through a space, the FACE, the posture, the vehicle that hounds the road, sweats. I know when we’re looking straight on, we’re looking straight through. And I suppose it’s the drift and swing, that shows you who you are, and that music is a force and really is, all it’s cracked up to be. These photos make me remember everything.”
This Saturday, August 18th, Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince will be signing copies of Dream and Drive at Marc Jacobs’ specialty bookstore, BookMarc, in NYC. The band’s favorite photos culled from the collection will also be on display at Milk Studios in Manhattan for the duration of the this upcoming weekend as well.
